02/08/2006 From time to time I have to correct myself. I said the other day that Specialized should be ashamed , because they are attacking the little Guy (Mt. Cycle). I forgot that Mountain Cycle isn't so small. They are part of Kinesis who has/is making frames for these manufacturers: Bianchi, Bridgestone, Corretec, Diamondback, GT, Iron Horse, Felt, Kildemoes, K2, Haro, Jamis, Monark, Peugeot, Raleigh, Santa Cruz, Shappard, Specialized (interstesting), and Storck, and to name just a few. Kinesis is a worldwide leader in the manufacture of aluminum bicycle frames and forks employing around 1300 people at their 3 factories. They have factories in the U.S.A., Taiwan,and China.

01/31/2006 Check out this article I read on Bike Biz.com. Another example of the big guy trying to beat up on the little guy. Kind of sucks since I own 4 Specialized bikes. Specialized should be ashamed of this petty crap they pull sometimes. Mountain Cycle and Specialized clash over bike name.

12/18/2005 Jones Creek Downhill Update The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced that the popular Jones Creek Trail System is closed to all recreational use, in order to maintain the trails and prevent erosion. The trail system will reopen on May 1, 2006. Ungated forest roads remain open for public access. The Annual closure helps to reduce water damage to the trails during the rainy winter. The closure also allows time for DNR staff and volunteers to perform maintenance and repair operations on the trails and other facilities, which can cause disruptions and unsafe conditions for visitors if undertaken during the riding season. For more information, call the DNR Office in Castle Rock at (360) 577-2025. |

11/29/2005 HOOD RIVER BMX TRACK UPDATE FROM THE HOOD RIVER NEWS. BMX Park on hold The soggy weather has halted progress on the BMX park, says track developer Jeff Blackman. "We can't get heavy equipment on the track," Blackman said "We brought in a bunch of clay. When it gets wet it turns into mud and soup." Blackman is planning on finishing the project in spring or when the weather dries out - whichever comes sooner. He said the course will require another two weekends of volunteer work to complete.

11/22/2005 This weekend November 24/27 2005 ABA GRANDNATIONALS - Tulsa, OK Expo Square (indoor). The big show for the ABA BMX Nationals. A few locals are headed to the Midwest to try there hand at some real competition. Good luck to Oregon Pro's David Miller and David Wray. Also good luck to OregonBMX.com's Ken Pliska. 10/26/2005 HOOD RIVER BMX TRACK UPDATE FROM DISCOVER BICYCLES. BMX TRACK APPROVED BY CITY!!! We need all Disco Kids Club members and all interested parties who support cycling in our community to help build the BMX PARK this November. Here is the current schedule: November 5th & 6th: We will be taking out the small scrub oaks and brush. We will install the culvert to redirect the creek and rough in the track foot print. We need people with shovels, chainsaws, rakes etc. We are looking for someone to bring in a BACK HOE AND DONATE THEIR TIME? November 12th & 13th: We will have Roger Linder (Milwaukee BMX) come in to help us design the track, we will start putting in the jumps and berms. We will be installing the irrigation system and we will need some loads of dirt. Gjino's masonry will bring in a bobcat on Sunday to help us out. We will need a lot of help this weekend. November 19th & 20th: We are hoping to refine the track, smooth it out, pack it down etc. If anyone can help please contact Jeff Blackman at: erinjeff@gorge.net or Lora Melconian at (509) 637-0935.
